The steps below are a guideline for working with your energy coach. This is a general guideline, so some steps may be skipped, as not all homes and situations are the same.

Meet with the energy coach and discuss your home and where you can find savings. You will also talk about getting an energy assessment especially if you haven’t one in the past two years. There are also resources for renters.

Massachusetts Energy Savings Finder Tool– This free search tool helps you identify local, state and federal rebates, incentives and tax credits for Massachusetts homeowners and renters.

Home Energy Assessment

Energy coaches from the Educators Electrify Everything program will assist educators with getting an energy assessment.

Home Energy Assessment information: Mass Save vs. Energy Saving Home Loan – Choose an energy assessment that fits your needs. This document describes the difference between a Mass Save energy assessment and an Energy Saving Home Loan Assessment.

These guides are for you to look at with your energy coach to determine what type of energy assessment you are eligible for according to income, type of home, and geography. They also list some of the saving you can unlock for your home.

Additionally, these towns/cities are Designated Equity Communities and Mass Save has extra benefits for these communities: Boston, Brockton, Chelsea, Everett, Fall, River, Fitchburg, Framingham, Lawrence, Lowell, Lynn, Malden, New Bedford, Oak Bluffs, Pittsfield, Quincy, Revere, Salem, Springfield, Tisbury, Woburn, and Worcester. In the case of Boston, only select zip codes are included (02215, 02119, 02120, 02121, 02122, 02124, 02125, 02126, 02128, 02134, 02135 and 02136).

Work with your energy coach to find rebates, low and no-interest loans, and stackable discounts. Additionally, your coach will look over your electric bill with you to make sure you are getting the lowest price available, and let you know about other possible stackable savings on your bill.
