Arpeggione Ensemble and silk artist Susan Quateman of Gloucester invite audiences of all ages to experience “The Crab and the Knot,” a free multimedia performance, at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at Allyn Cox Reservation, Greenbelt’s headquarters, at 82 Eastern Ave. in Essex.
The program includes a chamber musical performance by Arpeggione Ensemble along with storyteller Judith Black who tells a poetic tale about the horseshoe crab (an ancient animal ), red knots (an intrepid bird), and coastal ecology. Silk paintings of horseshoe crabs, red knots and the salt marsh will be on view. A screening of a short video by Lisa Smith, SOS From the Water’s Edge, featuring interviews with scientists exploring the horseshoe crab and red knot’s delicate relationship is also part of the event.
Advance (free) registration is encouraged at Arpeggione Ensemble
