Artists have a special role in communicating the urgency of the climate crisis on Cape Ann and throughout the world. Art awakens people. Art ignites hope. Art invites activism.

The Climate Arts Action Group aims to evoke an emotional response to the climate crisis that engages our community. Together, we can make a positive impact.

Actions

On March 20, 2021 we produced our inaugural webinar ‘Call to Artists – Climate Change and the Arts in Our Community’. The webinar featured the premiere of Lisa Smith’s short film ‘Without Just Grounds’ about the artwork and environmental philosophy of the late, beloved Rockport artist Elaine MacGray Starrett. The presentation also included a panel of distinguished local environmental artists, Mags Harries, Sinikka Nogelo, and Elaine’s daughter Amy Bower, oceanographer at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.

Stay tuned for the next event by the Climate Arts Action group and Contact Us if you have an idea you’d like to share and/or become a member.
